BAUM SIGMAN

Employee Benefits

Multiemployer benefit funds, on ERISA, contribution collection, and fiduciary matters.

We represent pension, welfare, vacation, apprenticeship, 401(k), labor-management cooperative committees, and other joint labor-management funds throughout the Midwest.

Depending on the needs of the individual fund, our seminars and counsel assist trustees in their compliance with the increasingly intricate provisions of ERISA and other federal laws.

We prosecute and defend a large volume of cases on behalf of our clients in state and federal courts, ranging from the collection of contributions to complex fiduciary liability cases.

We practice before the Department of Labor and the Internal Revenue Service, and assist funds in obtaining qualification and in their dealings with these regulatory agencies.

The firm behind the work

We have the experience.

Baum Sigman Auerbach & Neuman was founded in 1963, one of the oldest law firms in Chicago devoted to representing unions and Taft-Hartley fringe benefit funds. The overlapping experience our attorneys carry across ERISA, labor law, and employment law gives our clients the benefit of comprehensive legal services, responsive to the concerns and goals that are unique to them.

As advocates

we remain committed to the labor movement and strive, in the most efficient manner possible, to obtain results that are in the best interest of our clients.

As protectors

we aggressively respond to threats of liability and focus on practical solutions for limiting risks of exposure to liability.

As counsellors

we tailor our services to the specific needs of each client, taking the time to discuss concerns and goals, and provide every available legal and practical option.
