Mr. Hlavin has been a partner of the Firm since January 2001. His legal career at Baum Sigman began in 1992. His practice covers the areas of labor and employment law, wage and hour law, and employee benefits law, along with other types of litigation brought by or against the Firm's clients. Mr. Hlavin represents labor unions in federal and state court litigation, as well as in proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board, the Illinois State and Local Labor Relations Board, the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, and other federal and state agencies. Mr. Hlavin litigates grievances brought pursuant to collective bargaining agreements by representing clients at arbitration hearings. He also assists in the coordination and supervision of the Firm's labor and employment labor services.

Mr. Hlavin has lectured and contributed articles to the International Union of Operating Engineers, AFL-CIO lawyers' conference, and has presented seminars sponsored by the AFL-CIO Lawyers' Coordinating Committee. He has given lectures sponsored by the International Benefits Foundation, and contributed to the article, "ERISA Benefit Plan's Lien," which was published by the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education. Mr. Hlavin also provides seminars and educational training to various clients in Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin on numerous labor and employment issues.

Mr. Hlavin is admitted to practice law in Illinois and Wisconsin. He is also admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, federal district courts in Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin. Mr. Hlavin is a member of the trial bar of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the AFL-CIO Lawyers' Coordinating Committee and the American Bar Association. He received a Bachelor of Science in Commerce from DePaul University, and his law degree, with distinction, from the John Marshall Law School.
